Geo-institute developed a globe which makes the surface of our earth visible and perceptible. This relief globe brings geography to life: no matter if morphology of the bottom of the ocean or mountain ranges.
The height differences are shown through coloured nuances from green (plains) to various brown shades (mountains). A kardanic suspension makes sure that the globe can rotate on two axis on 360°.
The classical chrome base is suitable for every interior design or room. Thanks to its flexible foot it can be adjusted in heigth from 1,10m to 1,30m.
This relief globe is hardly the only exact model of our earth. Every other format, e.g. as wall map, shows distortions in the map image. This relief globe has a diameter of 64cm and equals to a world map of 2x2m size. The relief is produced extraordinary good, which show these examples:
- Since not only the terrestrial but also the submarine area is completely reliefed, the height difference between the Himalaya Mountains and the Mariana Trench is about 4 cm.
- The tectonical chains on the seabed and land provide an impressive overview of the plate tectonics of our earth.
- In Asia it can be clearly seen that the Indian plate pushes itself under the Himalaya mountains.
